Spruce Wood (Picea abies Wood) is uniformly-white with a golden hue and silky luster. It is able to retain its natural color for a long time. The heartwood is not distinct from sapwood. Spruce is straight-grained with thin and regular texture. It is light and soft, but nevertheless has good strength and elasticity properties for its relatively light weight. It is not very susceptible to shrinkage and when dried remains stable. Its low natural durability can be compensated for by applying a protective coat of paint. It is less well suited to impregnation.

Why Choose Spruce Wood for Furniture?
When compared to other softwoods, spruce wood stands out because of its balance between strength, beauty, and affordability. Unlike pine, it offers more stability when dried, and compared to oak or teak, it is much lighter in weight, making it easy to transport and craft into furniture. For homeowners who prefer eco-friendly choices, spruce wood is also considered sustainable due to its widespread availability and fast growth cycle.

How strong is spruce wood compared to other woods?
Spruce wood is a softwood, but it offers good strength and elasticity. While it is not as hard as oak or teak, it is strong enough for furniture, construction, and interiors. Its strength-to-weight ratio makes it a preferred material for beams and panels.
